Role Overview
Our client in the HR Consulting sector is seeking a Communications Lead to own the voice, visibility, and reputation of the founder, a Global HR Leader with an established international profile across the UK, Africa, and Europe, as well as the consultancy she founded.
This role spans three interconnected areas: social media, communications, and PR. The Communications Lead is responsible for bringing all three together as one coherent, consistent presence, building and executing strategy, producing content, managing media relationships, and ensuring that everything that carries The founder's name or CarvinClay's brand reflects the standard of a senior executive operating at the highest level.
The right candidate does not wait to be briefed on what to say next. They understand the executive's world well enough to anticipate it, and they take full ownership of how that world is communicated.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Media
• Develop and execute the LinkedIn strategy for the founder's personal brand, including content planning, writing, publishing, and engagement. LinkedIn is the primary platform and must consistently reflect the voice and authority of a globally recognised HR leader.
• Manage both LinkedIn and Instagram for CarvinClay People Development, ensuring the account is active, on-brand, and purposefully positioned.
• Capture the founder's voice with a level of accuracy that makes her content feel entirely authentic.
• Stay close to the conversations happening in HR, leadership, and organisational transformation, women in leadership, amongst others, and bring those themes into content that is timely, relevant, and additive.
• Track performance across platforms, draw insights from what is landing, and adjust the approach accordingly.
• Develop and manage monthly content calendars for both the personal brand and the consultancy.
Communications
• Own the messaging across every touchpoint where the founder or CarvinClay communicates, from keynote introductions and website copy to newsletters, briefing documents, and client-facing materials.
• Develop messaging frameworks that keep communications consistent as the executive's profile continues to grow across different geographies and contexts.
• Prepare the founder for speaking engagements, panel discussions, and media appearances with the right narrative, context, and positioning.
• Write clearly, authoritatively, and with precision across formats and audiences, adapting the message without ever losing the voice.
• Think in terms of the broader story being built over time, not just the piece of content going out this week.
PR and Media Relations
• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and media contacts across HR, business, leadership, and relevant African and European press.
• Proactively identify stories worth telling and pitch them. Draft press releases, op-eds, media statements, and executive commentary without waiting to be directed.
• Respond quickly and strategically when media opportunities arise, ensuring the founder is positioned appropriately and that any coverage lands in line with her brand.
• Monitor media coverage and brand mentions, flagging anything that warrants a response and maintaining a clear record of PR activity, outcomes, and pipeline.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
• Proven experience managing communications, PR, or social media for an executive, founder, or senior leader.
• Demonstrable track record in media relations, including pitching stories, securing coverage, and managing journalist relationships.
• Strong experience managing LinkedIn as a thought leadership platform,
• Background in professional services, HR, consulting, leadership development, or a related field is a strong advantage.
• Prior experience working directly with C-suite or board-level principals is highly desirable.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
• Exceptional writing ability across formats, from long-form articles and op-eds to social media posts, press releases, and executive briefings.
• Strong ability to internalise and authentically replicate a client's voice and communication style.
• Strategic thinker who can connect day-to-day communications activity to longer-term reputational and business objectives.
• Proficient in design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent, with the ability to produce clean, professional, brand-aligned visuals.
• Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines, and priorities without losing quality.
• Operates with a high degree of discretion, confidentiality, and professional integrity.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and receptive to feedback, particularly when working closely with a highly exacting principal.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
• The founder's LinkedIn presence is consistent, high quality, and growing in reach and engagement among the right professional audiences.
• Media coverage is secured regularly, and the founder is increasingly visible in the publications and platforms that matter within her field.
• Every piece of content, whether a post, a press release, or a presentation, sounds like The founder and looks like the CarvinClay brand.
• Social media, PR, and corporate communications operate not as three separate activities, but as one integrated strategy with a clear and recognisable voice.
• The founder can trust that her communications are being managed to the highest standard, with or without her involvement in every detail.
